Hello everyone, this is a quick update to let you know that I’m still alive.
As you may know, in early July I left for Boulder, Colorado for a five-month AmeriCorps term through American Conservation Experience (ACE).
Over the past month, my crew members and I have been working with the City of Boulder’s Open Space & Mountain Parks (OSMP) division to repair their vast system of trails, perform ecological restoration, and to install a new trail.
The work has been challenging – both physically and mentally – which partially explains why you haven’t heard from me in so long.
More significant, however, is the fact that I don’t have much of an internet connection.
The internet in my OSMP-supplied house is for work purposes only, and is quite poor. I’m also living under a set of strict, COVID-related rules that prevent me from going to places where I might be able to use public WIFI.
This means that I won’t be able to do much blogging until I’m done with my AmeriCorps term. Despite this, I’ve been keeping detailed notes of my time in Boulder, and I have a few post drafts ready in case I find a way to reliably access the internet.

Looking at the pics, I instantly want to teleport there! How marvellous. And in the Covid times, its seems to be quite a nice place away from all the madness. I hope you’re staying safe.

Hi Mithai, Colorado is a beautiful state! Where I’m living is a good place to be during Covid, because I’m far enough outside of the nearest city (Boulder) that my chances of getting infected are low. It’s kinda limiting though, because Boulder has a reputation for being a great city, but I can’t really go there.
I hope you’re staying safe too! I’ll read your latest blog post whenever I can.

That thought did occur to me, that in the movies the protagonists often run away to the ‘wilderness’ before they return to civilization. Sort of like Aragorn spending many years wandering the wilds before he was ready to publicly reveal himself as the true king :P

Yeah right! Infact Viggo Mortensen made a movie about surviving in the wilderness and learning what matters instead of traditional learning. Its was quite a nice movie.

Oh really? I didn’t know Viggo made a movie like that; I’m gonna have to check it out! It’s been too long since I saw a Viggo Mortensen film.

Yeah it was quite well made. He actually looked very different in the movie and I had a hard time recognising him lol.
