Also, I would like to point out that there is no such thing is a black panther. Such creatures are actually leopards or jaguars that have dark, or melanistic, coats. Such cats retain their spots, although they can be quite difficult to see.
There has never been a confirmed case of a melanistic cougar even though they are known as panthers in Florida.
