Infinity Dreams Award/Premio Sueños de Infinito

It has been a long time since I have accepted any awards on The Jaguar and its Allies. But a few weeks ago I was nominated for the Infinity Dreams Award by Ani of .Modelo Para Armar.: a blog full of excellent short stories and powerful writing. I have chosen to accept this award. This will also be the first time I attempt to write a post in both English and Spanish, as a personal challenge to myself.

The rules of the Infinity Dreams Award are simple. All one has to do is share eleven facts about themselves or their blog, and then nominate others for the award. Here are my eleven facts:

  1. I just moved from the state of Ohio in the U.S. to northern California: a distance of over 2500 miles (4023 km). If anyone knows of anyone who is hiring in Humboldt County please let me know!

  2. While my current obsession is with wild felids, as a child I was all about wolves.

  3. Despite being fascinated by big cats, I had never lived with a domestic cat until just a few weeks ago.

  4. I have a massive sweet tooth.

  5. I have been making Turkish coffee for myself for over a year now, but I had not made it with sugar until about two weeks ago. It was amazing.

  6. Although the science-based posts on this blog take several weeks to complete, I thoroughly enjoy working on them. I wish I had time to write more!

  7. For the first time in my life, I live in big cat country. There are mountain lions (Puma concolor) in my area, but the chances of seeing one are extremely small.

  8. I love red grapes. A lot.

  9. Nearly two weeks ago I experienced my first earthquake. It was exciting!

  10. I love airports. There is so much energy and life in them, and I cannot help but feel energized while I am in them.

  11. In spite of the above fact, I feel more at home in natural places than anywhere else: especially forests and mountains.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que había aceptado algunos premios en El Jaguar y sus Aliados. Pero hace unas semanas fui nominado para el Premio Sueños de Infinito por Ani de .Modelo Para Armar.: un blog lleno de excelentes cuentos y poderosa escritura. ¡Lo recomiendo mucho! He escogido aceptar este premio. Esto también será la primera vez que trato escribir un post en Inglés y Español, como un reto personal para mí.

Las reglas del Premio Sueños de Infinito son simples. Todo lo que tiene que hacer es compartir once hechos sobre usted o su blog, y luego nominar a otros para el premio. Aquí están mis once hechos:

  1. Acabo de mudarme desde el estado de Ohio en los EE. UU. a California del norte: una distancia de más que 4023 km. ¡Ahora necesito un trabajo!

  2. Aunque mi obsesión actual es con felinos silvestres, como un niño mis animales favoritos estaban lobos.

  3. A pesar de ser fascinado por felinos silvestres, no había vivido con un gato doméstico hasta hace unas semanas.

  4. ¡Me encantan los alimentos dulces! 

  5. He estado haciendo café turco por mí mismo durante más que un año, pero no lo había hecho con el azúcar hasta hace casi dos semanas. ¡Fue increíble!

  6. Aunque los posts científicos en este blog llevan varias semanas completar, me gusta hacerlos mucho. ¡Deseo que tuviera tiempo para escribir más!

  7. Por primera vez en mi vida, vivo en territorio gato grande. Hay pumas (Puma concolor) en mi área, pero las posibilidades de ver uno son pequeñísimos.

  8. Me encanta uvas rojas. Mucho.

  9. Hace dos semanas experimenté mi primer terremoto. ¡Fue divertido!

  10. Me encantan aeropuertos. Hay tanta energía y vida en ellos, y no puedo evitar sentir vigorizado mientras estoy dentro de ellos.

  11. A pesar del hecho anteriormente, me siento más vivo en lugares naturales que en cualquier otro: especialmente los bosques y las montañas.

    1. A fellow Turkish coffee lover! Splendid! It is indeed an amazing taste sensation: even without the sugar. It’s also an amazing hyperactivity sensation when you make enough of it for four people (according to traditional methods) and drink it all yourself ;)

  5. Hi Josh! Thank you for tagging me on this award. Will definitely try to put it up on my blog sometime soon! :) I’ve just begun learning Spanish at school. Is the language easy to learn/grasp? I’ve done french for the past few years and so far I feel they are a little similar.

    1. Hello Lavanya! I’m glad you started learning Spanish! It mustn’t be overly hard to grasp, because I’ve had next to no formal instruction in it and after about a year and a half I was fairly competent in reading and writing it. Speaking is another matter though: that can only be learned by talking with someone who knows more Spanish than yourself. I definitely struggle more in that department.

      Also, both Spanish and French are rooted in Latin; so the have some similarities. But I’d say that Spanish is much easier (and fun!) to pronounce. I don’t know much about French grammar though, so I’m not sure which language has easier rules to grasp. But I DO know that Spanish is very closely related to both Portuguese and Italian; meaning that once you learn Spanish you’ll have a head start on those languages as well. That’s why I hope to begin working on Portuguese once I’ve improved in my Spanish conversational skills ;)

  10. Mis felicitaciones – por el premio y también porque tu español is mucho mejor que el mío! :) Puedo leer bastante bien pero me cuesta mucho hablar o escribir. Para mi, escribir un post entero en español es sólo un sueño distante por el momento.

    1. ¡Mil gracias Susan! No sea engañado, el internet oculta muchas cosas! Me llevó mucho tiempo para completer la traducción, y tuve que usar un diccionario frecuentemente. Pero estoy muy orgulloso de que fue capaz de terminarlo en absoluto.

      Ah, para mi hablar en español es difícil también. Leer y escribir son bien…aunque como dije estoy lento cuando escribo en español. ¡Pero tiene que empezar en algún lugar! :D :D :D :D :D

      PD. Me he dado cuenta que es necesario utilizar tantos emojis como sea posible cuando escribir en español :P :D :)

          1. Tengo que encontrar unos blogs pequeños sobre literatura o historia donde puedo comentar… Leo unos blogs y revistas españoles pero son grandes (blogs de escritores, etcétera) y no todos permiten comentar, y si que sí, bueno, ¡no me atrevo!

            Aquí están una lista de blogs españoles que sigo. Ellos principalmente sobre poesía, cuentos, o fotografía, pero me gustan mucho. Todos de ellos permiten comentarios, y disfruto leer ellos. La amabilidad que se comunica de algunos de ellos aclara mi día.
