Temporary Hiatus

I will be heading into a period of wakeful sleep on the blogosphere for at least a week. Not a Sleeping Jaguar by Becker1999. CC BY 2.0

I hate to do this, but I need to step away from blogging for at least a week: my life is simply too busy right now. If I am to finish writing my thesis in two weeks, which is the plan, then I need to stop spending so much time blogging.

I am also tired of releasing filler posts every week just to keep this blog afloat; I miss the days when I had the time and energy to develop quality content. So, rather than throw out another last-minute post, I would rather take the time to create something meaningful.

Fortunately, I have several posts in the works that I am genuinely excited about. In the next few weeks you will hear from one of the most influential figures in the conservation social sciences, who has great information to share with all of us. You will be learning a great deal about a unique and under-researched species of wild cat, as well as a remarkable organization that is working to conserve them.

I am not sure when the aforementioned posts will be ready, but I hope to release the first in under two weeks. However, for the time being I need to focus on finishing my thesis. I will try to have original content to publish next week, but I cannot promise anything.

  4. Good idea! We waste way too much time online ;) Good luck and get that thing finished! Just think about when you can sleep again without having a quilty conscious. At least that was the case for me. Although I also felt lost once I had finished writing because I did not know what to do with myself any more…. :D But still, taking a break and then starting with new energy is definitely better than getting exhausted bit by bit. Damn, I should follow my own advice and go to sleep :P

    1. Haha, I actually had a short break from my thesis for about three days while waiting for my advisor to send me some edits, and I just about lost my mind! I couldn’t get used to the feeling of free time!

      However, you’re about to see that this will practically be the shortest hiatus in history.

  13. I was worried this was going to be one of those “I’m never blogging again posts” but I think this is a good idea! Get that degree! And quality is always better, so definitely don’t force posts but do keep writing! You’re awesome at it.

  14. Good on you for being brave enough to change your priorities. As the comments show, you’ll get the support of your tribe. Honesty is king! Hoping that the light at the end of Thesis Tunnel is shining more brightly each day!
